Many parents are concerned that children with developmental delays tend to regress in their development during the summer months. Parents of these children find it extremely difficult to find time for themselves during the summer vacation. NIDD visualized the summer camp program on the guidance of Fr. Paul Zahler, the camp founder, from his 30 years of experience in the child development activities.

This program is structured in such a way that children will receive a variety of activities so that they will continue a steady growth in their development. Children are eager to spend their day at the swimming pool, horseback riding arena and other development center activity areas. Most of these children have experienced the Early Childhood Development Program when they were younger and although they have graduated to the public school system, they look forward to spending their summertime here.

The developmental activities offered include swimming, sports activities, music, art, creative educational programs and horseback riding. These activities are geared to prepare them to be successful in their academic studies, according to Fr. Paul. Most parents have a difficult time in finding programs during the summer that are geared toward children with delays in development. The Summer Day Program starts on the 1st of June and ends on the last of July each year.
