NIDD’s year-round camping program gives new hope to persons with developmental delays. This camp model is designed to install a sense of accomplishment, pride and independence among participants. Many a time, the experience has been the turning point for individuals and their families.

Children and adults with various developmental delays have a great time at the overnight camps held in Shawnee, Oklahoma, USA. They look forward to the exciting activities, seeing camp friends and the adventure of being away from home. Activities are designed to be not only fun but also to provide real learning and living experiences. The campers are not the only ones to benefit from the camp. Parents and volunteer camp counselors are also having needs met through the camp.

Parents of children with developmental delays find it extremely difficult to find time for themselves. The demands of caring for their children without a break can cause a great amount of stress. Camp Benedictine provides this much needed support throughout the year.
