In the early 70’s, the community saw a need for community based
programs for individuals living in the state institutions. A variety
of programs including recreation, employment and educational
programs were established. In 1990, when state institutions were
closed the institute established a supported living agency,
operating 24 hours a day, providing long-term care to individuals
with physical and mental challenges

Home Integration, a community based
program, designed and developed by NIDD, is expanding its services
to new areas in Oklahoma. For the last 11 years, this program has
been offering its services in Area III in the State of Oklahoma. Due
to overwhelming requests from parents and care managers, beginning
this year the program is expanding its services to include Area I
and Area II within the state. |

Home Integration has developed various innovative programs and
activities for individuals with handicapping conditions. It also
coordinates various community resources for the benefit of the
individual. This year, Home Integration is reaching out to
individuals that are living with family members.
Home Integration’s
community-based programs has a team of trained and dedicated
Managers who provide a commendable program for individuals with
physical and mental challenges. The Managers have several years of experience in
working for people with physical challenges.
Home Integration’s
multi-faceted program envisions serving more and more families,
children and adults with developmental delays in the coming years with its
strong team of professionals. While we focus on serving individuals
in and around the Shawnee area directly, we are reaching out to
people across the nation and beyond through its umbrella
organization - NIDD’s outreach efforts.
