Early Intervention is the name for special services provided during the first five years of a child’s life.

Early childhood intervention provides support for infants and young children who have developmental delays or physical challenges, their families and communities, in order to promote the child's development and inclusion.

We use the term "developmental delays" in describing a young child who has not been achieving new skills within the expected age range.
